Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup (PMU) is a form of cosmetic pigmentation in which the pigment is placed more superficially in the skin than in a traditional tattoo.

All treatments are performed using professional equipment designed for cosmetic pigmentation, with a strong emphasis on hygiene, quality, and safety.

After the treatment, the area will usually heal within 10–14 days, but the skin may continue to shed pigment for up to 30 days as the color stabilizes.

To achieve the best and most long-lasting results, a course of 3 treatments is recommended. After the first treatment, there is typically a 4–6-week interval before the next treatment is performed. The final result is assessed only after the final treatment.

A permanent makeup treatment course consists of 3 sessions:

  • 1st session: The initial treatment, during which the pigment is implanted into the skin.
  • 2nd session: Must be carried out approximately 4–5 weeks after the first treatment.
  • 3rd session: Must again be carried out approximately 4–5 weeks after the second treatment.

The second and third sessions are mandatory and an important part of the complete Permanent Makeup treatment course. They are necessary to properly build up the colour and ensure that the skin is sufficiently saturated with pigment, allowing us to achieve the best possible and longest-lasting result.

It is very important that no more than 5 weeks pass between the treatments. You must therefore be prepared to set aside time for all three sessions and follow the recommended intervals.

If you are unable to follow these intervals or do not complete the second and third sessions, the desired result and the longevity of the pigment cannot be guaranteed.

We use EU-approved pigments from PMU-LINE, which are:

  • Sterile and bacteria-free, even after opening
  • Bio-adapted to the skin’s natural pH level
  • Manufactured in the EU in a certified medical laboratory (ISO 9001, EN 13485 and GMP)
  • Made with 100% natural ingredients
  • Vegan and environmentally friendly

These are organic and mineral pigments with vibrant colours and no reddish or bluish undertones. They do not create magnetism during MRI scans and can easily be removed with laser treatment.

How long does permanent makeup last?

Despite its name, permanent makeup is not completely permanent. Permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattoo where pigments are implanted into the middle layer of the skin to enhance and define your natural facial features.

Over time, the pigments gradually fade and typically become lighter over a period of 3–5 years. This means that permanent makeup is generally less permanent and less intense than traditional tattoos.

The longevity of the result can vary from person to person, depending on factors such as the skin and how the pigment is retained. Over time, touch-up treatments may be desired to maintain the colour and achieve the desired result.

What you need to do after the treatment

After the treatment, time is set aside to go through the aftercare instructions. You will receive thorough guidance on how to best protect your skin following the treatment. It is important to allow the treated area to rest. Therefore, avoid touching the treatment area, even though it may be tempting. You will be provided with an ointment that should be applied to the treated area twice daily for the first seven days. In addition, avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds, saunas, and swimming pools for at least 14 days.

After receiving a permanent makeup treatment at Aalborg Beauty, you can safely get behind the wheel and drive home. You may also return to work. The skin may experience some slight swelling, but not to the extent that you would need to take time off work.

The treated area will heal within 7–10 days. However, during the first month after the treatment, the skin may still reject some of the colour, meaning that the final result cannot be properly assessed until after one month. In most cases, two treatments are required. However, there must be at least 3–6 weeks between the first and second treatment. It will be assessed on an ongoing basis whether additional treatments are necessary before the desired result is achieved. The price becomes progressively lower for each additional touch-up treatment. However, 1–2 treatments are usually sufficient.
